What is South Leeds Health for All?

South Leeds Health for All is a Community Health Development Organisation working in partnership with South Leeds Primary Care Trust, Leeds City Council, Voluntary Organisations and local Community Groups.

Health for All works to the principles of:

Redressing Inequality - directing resources to those most in need.

Promoting Community Participation - involving local people in decision making and action.

Promoting Collaboration - encouraging agencies to build fruitful partnerships with local communities and to work with each other.

South Leeds Health for All was established in 1991 to work with the most disadvantaged local communities in South Leeds to help them identify health needs and issues and enable them to take action for change.

Health for All's Approach

South Leeds Health for All believes that people within communities are the experts on their own health needs.  Adopting a Community Development approach enables people with similar experiences, concerns and needs to come together to form community groups, which offer mutual support and promote collective action.  South Leeds Health for All helps people with a common experience to make their voices heard, informing service providers and raising public awareness through public meetings, Action Research Projects and the publication of reports.
